Privacy policy

Last updated October 12, 2026.

This policy explains what information The Ten Files (thetenfiles.com, "we") collects when you use the site, how it's used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

You don't need an account to read The Ten Files, and we don't ask for your name or email.

When you vote in a poll, we record the vote count for that file. To stop repeat voting, we also store a one-way code made from your IP address, browser details and the file, which can't be turned back into your IP address. We save which case you voted for in your browser's local storage so we can show your choice next time.

Advertising and cookies

The Ten Files may show ads served by Google through Google AdSense. When ads are shown:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and use cookies for the same purpose. Google lists the ad technology providers it works with in its publisher help center.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by Google in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Consent

Where the law requires it, for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we'll ask for your consent before personalized ads or related cookies are used, through a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform.

Hosting and security

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

Your privacy rights in the US

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. We don't sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies may count as "sharing" under some state laws, and you can opt out using the links above. To make a request, email contact@thetenfiles.com.

Children

The Ten Files is a general-audience site and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
